Eat This bread

                                                                                

Supply of bread is only a week old, but a few pieces are all that's left on cutting board. Grandma's recipe doesn't last long in this family.



Boys' crys for more started early in week, as soon as rolls of fluffy white, dripping with butter, started disappearing from plates.

When are you going to make more?

Hunger pangs continuously plague.... They pine for something substantial.

We all struggle with that which is temporary, longing for deeper satisfaction.


What will satisfy this clamorous hunger? Eating is for nourishment and body maintenance. The Bible, God's Holy Word, also fortifies. Inspired script transfuses bad attitudes, builds muscles of endurance, unclogs heart arteries encrusted with sin...

Read [the Bible] because it is the food that God has provided for your soul, because it is the Word of God, because it is the means whereby you can get to know God. Read it because it is the bread of life, the manna provided for your soul’s nourishment and well-being.”

Proper Spiritual food makes one healthy...spiritually.

Like yeast, Holy Word must permeate our entire being.

Making us to become a sponge ready to absorb that which is new...

 we must be poured out...

so that which causes growth can be worked all the way through

we must vigourously knead hidden pockets of leaven, working dough

deeply to penetrate...

He [Jesus] spoke another parable to them, "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened."
                    ~Matthew 13:33

...the positive influence of the kingdom comes from within. the leaven must be hid in order to have any impact. The idea here is not that of hiding so as not to be seen, but rather of hiding in the sense of penetrating deeply, compleatly permeating the world as leaven completely permeates the dough.

                        we must be patient for the rising...

[For]... neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.

And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Rising to be with God on that final day is given to people who drink from Jesus as the Son of God.... He is the Bread of Life. Those who feed on Him through prayer and the eating of His Word for their nourishment and satisfaction, will live with Him eternally.

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
